Vehicle Tuning and ECU Remapping in
Rotherham & Sheffield
Since the late 90’s, most vehicles have a small computer which controls many of the vehicle’s functions and behaviors. This is known as the ECU or Engine Control Unit. This ECU monitors sensors in the engine and around the vehicle. The ECU contains a set of “maps” or programs which control how the vehicle responds to information from the sensors. Things like the amount of fuel required, timing, turbo pressure and many others. Manufacturers deliberately restrict the ratings of their vehicles for commercial purposes. ECU Remapping is the process of releasing restricted output in the same way that a manufacturer would do in order to sell an “up-rated” vehicle.
Why should I remap my vehicle?
Remapping your vehicle can bring several benefits and the type of file created depends on your driving style. Some people choose to remap their vehicles to get more power or reduce flat spots, where as others want a balance of more power and a better MPG. It really depends on you!
- Increased power and torque
- Improved throttle response
- Smoother power delivery, removing flat-spots where possible
- Improved MPG during normal driving helping to reduce fuel bills and your carbon foot-print
Most vehicles see minimum of 10% reduction in fuel consumption and up to a 35% increase in power!
